Janine’s grandmother lived in Kansas City, Kansas and she recently passed away and Janine called me to ask me “How can you find out if you are the Beneficiary on a policy?”

Kansas City is the 3rd largest city in the U.S state of Kansas. It is sometimes abbreviated as “KCK” Kansas City is situate in “Tornado Alley” a broad region where cold air from the Rocky Mountains and Canada collides with warm air from the Gulf of Mexico, leading to formations of powerful storms. Kansas City, is the home of the GM Fairfax plant which manufactures the Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Malibu Maxx and Saturn Aura.

Janine, you need to contact the insurance company directly to find out who your grandmother left as the beneficiary on her policy. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to find out what insurance company she was using.

If you have access to her records, look through her files for a copy of the policy or cancelled check to an insurance company. If the premiums were taken out of her bank account, check her bank statements. If she had auto or home insurance, contact that company to find out if she had a life insurane policy with them as well. Many people have been known to keep all their insurance policies with one company. Ask relatives, who were close to her if they know of a life insurance policy and if so, with what company. You could also contact the state office in Kansas City, Kansas of Unclaimed Property, they would have a record of the insurance payment.
